The governance structure of Kyoto International School consists of the Executive Board and the Board of Trustees and the Auditors. 

 

Executive Board

The role of the Executive Board is to set strategic directions, establish policies, ensure accountability, and provide leadership to improve the learning environment for the students KIS. The Board draws a clear line between governance and management and operates at a strategic level. On a less formal basis, Board members support KIS events and functions, and are advocates of the school and international education within the wider community.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees generally acts as an oversight body for the Board of Directors and have advisory and approval functions over important, specific acts and events.

Auditors

The Auditors also play an oversight role for both the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees. In addition, they are responsible for submitting an annual report regarding the financial management and status of the school to the Prefectural Government.

 Board Meetings

The Executive Board meets formally once a month to plan strategic direction for the school. At meetings, Board Members base their views on an impartial assessment of the available facts and hence act and vote according to conscience and judgement. The Board of Trustees meets twice annually to oversee and advise on matters of the annual budget.

Meeting are announced to the community and agendas and minutes are made available through the Community Portal as well as logged in the school office.
