Learning at KIS
We understand that there is much more to teaching and learning than just reading, writing and arithmetic. While our curriculum certainly starts with numeracy and literacy, we also teach students how to understand the world through cultural and international awareness. This encourages children to appreciate the wider world and understand their place in it. We also focus on belonging to communities and learning to live in a global community. Teaching our students to become responsible citizens in a unique global society is an integral element of our academic curriculum.
A Diverse Curriculum
At KIS we have developed a balanced curriculum, taught using the most effective teaching practice based on a deep understanding of how children best learn. Our international curriculum gives our students the knowledge, skills and attitudes they will need in our increasingly complex world.
While homeroom teachers work closely with students to guide them through learning in the core academic subject areas, we also offer specialist classes in visual arts, music, physical education and languages, taught by teachers specialized in these areas.
The New Face of Education
Academic programs are becoming more diverse to meet the needs of students in the 21st century. We already know that the 21st century will require independent thinkers, responsible citizens, creative problem-solvers and confident decision-makers. A secure basis in these skills, along with a strong academic foundation are the fundamental principals our program is based on.
Learning at KIS is real, meaningful, active, and is not restricted to the classroom.
