Basic outline of the KIS ELS Program
The KIS ELS Program is unique to other English Language Schools in that it has a long of history and connection to KIS. ELS students have the great opportunity to benefit from exposure to an international school environment and use of the KIS classrooms. Many KIS students also attend the program and KIS teachers regularly teach in both schools.
The classes are often a mixture of foreign and Japanese students, who are either first- or second-language speakers of English. Many of the students (Japanese and non-Japanese) come from the local community and the greater Kyoto/Kansai area.
ELS School-wide Curriculum Framework
The basic framework of the program works alongside a course book series, Kid’s Box (By Cambridge Press, 2010). In addition to this are supplementary activities and topics that are real, fun, authentic and engaging, providing the students with a richer learning experience.
Staff
The teachers on the ELS program are native English speakers from a range of overseas countries (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and UK). They are experienced teachers, who are passionate about teaching children, and providing them with a positive learning experience. Please take a look at the teacher profiles listed below.
