As the latest educational research shows, students in primary education benefit very little from homework that is out of context and not meaningful to students and their learning. Therefore , homework during the Primary grades is seen as providing our students with opportunities for meaningful and engaging continuations of learning from the classroom into the home. Homework will support the development of five transdisciplinary skills (research, thinking, self‐management, social and communication) as well as develop or deepen student understanding of concepts currently explored in the units of inquiry and / or subject areas.

Depending on grade level, homework should not exceed 20 to 50 minutes of effective time  on any given night. The following homework policy gives further detail of the purpose and expectations for homework.
